What shall I wear?

One of the most important things at a funeral is that you are relaxed enough to focus on the life of the person who has died and are able to grieve. Feeling comfortable in what you are wearing is important so that you can be released from this as a potential worry. Feeling comfortable is about clothes and shoes that fit and don't need attention. Feeling comfortable is also about choosing clothes that respect and honour the deceased and fit in with the culture and expectations of the grieving family. Black is the safest colour, although at my uncle's funeral he expressed a wish for it to be a colourful occasion and many of the male mourners wore very bright shirts. In this case the family alerted those attending the funeral that this was the wish of my uncle. Otherwise black or dark colours are culturally fitting. It would be good to hear of other's experiences in what they wore at a funeral and how they chose this.
